Paul Murphy Testimony

From Gladys G. and Elizabeth M.

A child’s playground accident leads to a fractured skull—and to his family’s fervent prayers through Paul Murphy’s intercession. The boy’s mother and aunt share their testimony of what could have been a tragic turn of events.

Gladys: On February 13, 2007, I was at home in Ponce, Puerto Rico, when the teacher of my 10-year-old son Steven called to inform me that my son had fallen and received a severe trauma to his head. Steven had been unconscious for about five minutes. I immediately called my sister, Elizabeth, to tell her what had happened and went to the school.

Elizabeth: My sister called and told me that while playing basketball, Steven had slid, fallen and hit his head against the corner of a cement bench, and that he had been unconscious for about five minutes. She asked me to stay with her other five children while she and her husband took Steven to the hospital.

Gladys: When we arrived at the hospital, doctors took X-rays which revealed a fracture in the skull. They told us that we had to take our son to the “Centro Medico” in San Juan – about two and a half hours away – as soon as possible because the fracture was very serious. We left by ambulance.

At the “Centro Medico”, doctors conducted more exams and found that Steven had cranial bleeding and clots in the brain. The doctor told us that it was very serious and that they were going to transfer him to the Children’s Hospital, a special hospital for children in critical condition. There, the doctors would most likely have to operate the next day if conditions didn’t improve. I called my sister immediately to tell her what was going on. We were so worried for our son.

Elizabeth: As soon as my sister gave me the news, I told her to pray to Servant of God, Paul Murphy, so that he would intercede for Steven. Afterwards, I called the Miles Jesu Ladies’ Community in Mesa, Arizona to inform them of Steven’s situation and to ask them for prayers. They told me that they would pray to Servant of God, Paul Murphy for the recovery of Steven, and that they would inform other Miles Jesu communities and ask them to also pray for Paul’s intercession.

I gathered the five children to have them to pray the rosary, asking the Blessed Mother that, through the intercession of Paul, Steven might be healed. That night the children said the rosary for their brother.

Gladys: Elizabeth suggested to me to ask Paul Murphy for the healing of my son. My husband and I immediately started praying, and with much faith asked Paul for the healing of my son.

The next day, the doctor took another X-ray and the analysis revealed that Steven was okay. The hemorrhage had ceased and everything looked normal. So, the doctor said he could go home. Till this day Steven has not had any secondary effects. We are so happy and thank God and Paul Murphy for his intercession.

Elizabeth: Gladys called to tell me that Steven was coming home because tests had revealed that everything was okay. When I gave the news to the children, they were cheering with happiness and thanks to Paul. Benmily, the youngest, took Paul’s picture and kissed it.
That day we all went to Mass in thanksgiving to God and Paul Murphy for the great favor granted us. He has granted our family several favors. We need Paul Murphy raised to the altars.
