Cause for Canonization of Servant of God, Paul M. Murphy, MJ

Testimony of Favors Received Through the Intercession of Paul M. Murphy, MJ

Testimony by Mrs. Angel B.

One of the happiest moments of our lives was the day our first son, Angel Luis, was born. However, we found ourselves pleading to God for our son"s life twenty-six days later when he had a bad fall.

Early one morning when i finished feeding the baby, i tried to put him back to sleep but fell asleep myself. I woke up when i realized that the baby had slipped from my arms and i heard him crying. He had hit the floor head first. My husband awoke immediately and asked me what was wrong, and i told him that i had dropped the baby. I did not know what to do; i was panicking and my whole body was trembling. My mother-in-law came in and tried to calm the baby. We tried calling our baby"s physician but could not reach him, so we decided to go to the hospital to make sure the baby was okay. At the hospital, the doctors performed a CT scan and informed us that there was a blood clot in the baby"s head. So they decided to transfer the baby to a specialized children"s hospital in Philadelphia. We live in Trenton, New Jersey. I could not stop crying at the thought that we might lose our baby. The guilt was terrible; how could i have fallen asleep and dropped my baby?

During the trip to the hospital my husband called his sister, a member of Miles Jesu, and told her what had happened. She told my husband to pray to the Servant of God Paul Murphy for the healing of the baby. She also told him to baptize the baby right away. When we arrived at the hospital, doctors performed other tests and told us that the baby"s skull was fractured and that it seemed he was bleeding internally. The doctors informed us that the neurosurgeon was examining him to see if surgery would be necessary. The baby was also beginning to run a fever so the doctors withdrew fluids from his back to determine the cause. In the meantime, my husband baptized our baby.

We were so desperate. I could not stop crying and sobbing. My mother-in-law said: "Let"s pray to Paul Murphy" and so we did.

I did not say a specific prayer but conversed with Paul. I said to him: "Paul, please intercede for my baby. Please take care of him so that he may be restored to us. Please help me to be with my baby and give me the strength to continue on. Help us be strong. Paul, please help my baby." We continued to make spontaneous prayers asking Paul to help us. Twenty minutes after we asked Paul Murphy for our baby"s health, the doctor came back and told us that the baby had only a small spot of blood and that he did not need surgery. The doctor also said that the fracture was not too serious and that it would heal as the baby grows. Today, August 22, feast of the Queenship of Mary, my husband and i took our baby back to the hospital for a check-up. The doctor said Angel Luis is well. We are so thankful to Paul Murphy for granting us this great favor. We have a picture of Paul in our living room so that people may learn who he is and so as our baby grows he may know how Paul interceded for him. Our deepest gratitude to all who prayed so fervently for our child"s life. Thank you, Paul Murphy.
